# Review engineering drawings

> Find missing information, conflicting annotations, and mismatches between a drawing and its model.

Ask Adam to review a PDF, native drawing, or drawing-and-model pair. A PDF supports a review of visible content. A connected native drawing can provide additional evidence about dimensions, model references, and revision state where the integration exposes it.

## Give the review a scope

Attach all sheets and identify the revision. Include the matching model when you want geometry checked, and provide the relevant house rules or supplier checklist. State which standard and edition apply if the review depends on them.

```text title="Review a supplier drawing package" wrap theme={null}
Review the attached drawing and STEP for the enclosure base, revision C. Use our attached checklist. Check whether the drawing defines the envelope, wall thicknesses, mounting pattern, and connector cutout; compare measurable dimensions with the model. Check units, title-block fields, duplicate or conflicting dimensions, and unreadable annotations. Return findings by sheet and feature with evidence, severity, and a proposed correction. Separate confirmed mismatches from questions.
```

## Inspect three kinds of finding

| Finding type | Example | Useful next action |
| - | - | - |
| Confirmed discrepancy | A measured hole location differs from its dimension | Establish the authoritative revision and correct the source |
| Missing requirement | A mating bore has no supplied fit requirement | Ask the designer for the functional fit |
| Review concern | Two leaders appear to overlap in the PDF | Inspect the sheet at readable scale and adjust layout |

Avoid treating every concern as a defect. An absent tolerance can be covered by an applicable general note, and a deliberately pinned model revision may be correct for an already released drawing.

## Compare revisions

```text title="Check what changed between revisions" wrap theme={null}
Compare revisions B and C of this drawing. List changed dimensions, tolerances, notes, and model references with sheet locations. Check whether the revision description accounts for those changes. Flag anything you cannot compare reliably, including unreadable or raster-only details.
```

For native drawings, ask Adam to check source-reference freshness before refreshing anything. Updating a reference can change dimensions; review the resulting sheet and annotations again.

## Close the review

After corrections, repeat the relevant checks on the final native drawing and exported PDF. Ask for the findings list with resolved items, remaining questions, and evidence for each resolution.

The result is a scoped engineering review. Approval follows your team's checking and release process. Continue with [drawing creation](https://docs.adam.new/cad/drawings.md) or [documentation and release](https://docs.adam.new/cad/documentation-and-release.md).
