# Review manufacturing and assembly

> Check a design against its process, material, supplier constraints, and assembly requirements.

Tell Adam how the part will be made. A useful review connects a measured feature to an applicable manufacturing rule and a practical change.

## Provide process context

Include the CAD file and revision, units, material, process, expected quantity, and supplier guidance. If you only have an image, Adam can identify visible concerns, but dimensional findings need geometry or supplied measurements.

| Process | Useful review topics |
| - | - |
| CNC machining | Tool access, internal radii, deep pockets, thin walls, setups, and workholding |
| Sheet metal | Thickness, bend geometry, reliefs, hole-to-bend relationships, and flat-pattern assumptions |
| Injection molding | Pull direction, draft, undercuts, wall transitions, and parting strategy |
| Assembly | Insertion direction, fastener access, locating features, clearances, and service access |

Use the supplier's limits when available. A general guideline does not establish the capability of a particular machine, tool, mold, or material.

## Request a measured review

```text title="Review a machined enclosure base" wrap theme={null}
Review this enclosure base for CNC machining in [alloy] using the attached supplier guidelines. Check pocket access, internal radii, wall thickness, and likely setups. For each finding, identify the feature, measured value and units, applicable rule and source, and suggested change. Mark any check that cannot be measured as unverified. Preserve the gasket land, mounting holes, and connector interface.
```

## Turn findings into a design change

```text title="Address a specific manufacturing finding" wrap theme={null}
Apply the proposed change for finding 2 to a copy of the native model. Preserve the protected interfaces from the brief. Rebuild the model, measure the changed feature, and recheck adjacent walls and clearances. Return the revised model and a before-and-after findings table.
```

For assembly review, include neighboring parts and the intended assembly sequence. A part in isolation cannot establish tool access or a complete clearance stack.

## What the report should contain

Ask for the reviewed revision, process assumptions, measured findings, rule sources, proposed actions, and checks that remain unavailable. Use pass/fail only where the measured value can be compared with a relevant requirement; qualitative concerns should remain review items.

If a change affects strength or stiffness, follow with [structural analysis](https://docs.adam.new/cae/structural-analysis.md). For fit variation, use [Tolerance analysis](https://docs.adam.new/cad/tolerance-analysis.md).
