# Connect CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE

> Connect CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE on Windows through Adam Connector.

Connect Adam to the CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE desktop app on your Windows PC. CATIA V5 has a [separate connection](https://docs.adam.new/integrations/catia.md).

## Before you begin

Use a Windows PC with a licensed CATIA V6 / 3DEXPERIENCE desktop app (`3DEXPERIENCE.exe`). Open it, sign in, and open your design. The desktop app must be running; a browser or the 3DEXPERIENCE launcher alone is not enough. The older standalone `CATIA.exe` app is not supported.

Run CATIA and Adam Connector from the same Windows account. Open both normally or both with **Run as administrator**. If several CATIA sessions are open, ask Adam to list them and select the one you want to use.

## Connect

**1. Connect your computer**

In Adam, open **Integrations > CATIA V6 (3DEXPERIENCE)** and follow [Desktop Connector setup](https://docs.adam.new/integrations/desktop-connector.md#pair-a-workstation). If this computer is already paired, use the existing connection.

**2. Open CATIA and your design**

Keep CATIA and Adam Connector running. No separate CATIA plug-in is required.

**3. Check the open design**

Once connected, ask Adam to inspect the design you want to work on without making changes.

```text title="Check the CATIA V6 session" wrap theme={null}
Inspect my open CATIA V6 design without changing it. Tell me which design is open and summarize the parts, features, or product structure you can read. Note anything you cannot inspect.
```

## Work with your design

Tell Adam which design to change and what you want, including dimensions or other requirements. Adam checks which design is active before making an edit.

If an edit fails, changes may remain in the model. Ask Adam to inspect it before retrying. Say explicitly when you want to save to 3DEXPERIENCE, replace a design, or export a file.

Adam can look up the Automation APIs installed with your CATIA version before
writing a script. For API lookup, the matching `DSYAutomation.chm` reference file
must be in the same folder as `3DEXPERIENCE.exe`.

## If it does not connect

* **The computer is online but CATIA is unavailable:** open the CATIA desktop app and sign in.
* **Several sessions are open:** ask Adam to list them and select the one you want to use.
* **The open design changed:** ask Adam to inspect it and confirm which design to change before retrying.
* **A request timed out or is still running:** ask Adam to check its status and result before making more changes or switching CATIA sessions. Do not submit the same edit again while it is running.
