A task keeps the conversation, tool activity, files, sharing permissions, and scheduled work for one outcome together.

Start a task

Select New Task in the sidebar. Write the result you want, identify the relevant system or file, and state the constraints Adam must preserve. You can add context in several ways:
  • attach files with the composer button;
  • drag files onto the task;
  • paste text or an image;
  • refer to a connected application or account; or
  • start from inside the Onshape or Fusion panel so the active document can be included.
If a model picker is visible, choose the tier and reasoning level appropriate for the work. The choices shown in your picker depend on current product configuration, your plan, and usage availability.

Follow a running task

Adam shows tool activity in the conversation. A turn can pause when Adam needs an answer or approval. Respond to the question or confirmation card in the task to continue. You can send another message while work is in progress. Adam may hold it in the task’s queue until the current turn reaches a safe point.
Ask Adam to inspect and report before changing a live CAD or PLM system when you want a review boundary. State the exact approval point in the request.

Find and filter tasks

Open Tasks to search the workspace. Available filters include:
  • All, Mine, and Team on shared teams;
  • Active, Needs input, Completed, and Scheduled;
  • originating surface such as Web, Onshape, or Fusion when those tasks exist; and
  • the open CAD document when you are working inside a supported CAD panel.
You can rename, pin, or delete tasks from the task menu. Deleting a task is permanent, so review any files you still need first.

Review files

Task files open in the right-hand workspace on larger screens. Use the file tabs to compare outputs without leaving the conversation. On mobile or narrow layouts, files open in the available preview surface. Open Files from the sidebar to search across all tasks.

Share a task

Task sharing is separate from team membership.
Open the task’s share control, select Share, enter an email address, and choose Can edit or Can view.A person with Can edit can send messages in that task. A person with Can view has read-only access. The task continues to use the owner’s context, integrations, and run eligibility.
Review the conversation and every attachment before publishing a task. Anyone who satisfies the selected link access can read the sanitized shared transcript and its deliverables.
Reply in the same task when the existing conversation, connected-document context, or files should carry forward. Start a new task when the work is unrelated or requires a different audience. For repeatable work, create a schedule from Scheduled tasks instead of manually recreating the request.
