Adam connects to your Onshape account with OAuth. Once connected, web tasks can inspect and work with authorized Onshape documents even when Onshape is closed. The optional Adam extension adds Adam inside Onshape and supplies live document and selection context.

Connect your account

1

Open Onshape in Integrations

In Adam, select Integrations, search for Onshape, and open the connection.
2

Authorize Adam

Select Connect. Sign in to Onshape if needed, review the requested access, and approve the OAuth flow.
3

Confirm the connection

Return to Adam and verify Onshape appears under Connected.
4

Test with an inspection

Start a web task that identifies a specific document and asks Adam to inspect it without making changes.
Depending on the document and your Onshape permissions, Adam can work with document structure, Part Studios, assemblies, and drawings. Provider permissions still apply: Adam cannot grant access you do not already have.

Add Adam inside Onshape

Install Adam from the Onshape App Store, then open it from an Onshape document and sign in with the same Adam account. Use the extension when Adam should know which document, workspace, tab, or selection you are currently viewing. Tasks created in the panel are also available in the Adam web app.
Best for starting Onshape work from Adam on the web. Onshape does not need to remain open for the account connection to be usable.
Onshape does not use the Adam Desktop Connector.

Disconnect Onshape

Open IntegrationsConnected, select the Onshape connection, and disconnect it. You can also revoke Adam from your Onshape account’s application settings. Existing task transcripts remain, but new runs cannot use the revoked account.

If connection fails

  • Allow the authorization pop-up and retry from the Onshape integration card.
  • Confirm you completed the flow with the intended Onshape account and Adam team.
  • If Adam can open Onshape but not a document, check that account’s document permission.
  • If the extension lacks live context, reload the Onshape document and sign in to the extension again.
