Before you begin
- Install and license SOLIDWORKS on the Windows PC where you will run the connector.
- Open the part, assembly, or drawing you want Adam to work with.
- For Simulation work, you also need the installed Simulation add-in and the appropriate license.
Connect
1
Pair the Windows workstation
In Adam, open Integrations > SOLIDWORKS and follow Desktop Connector setup. If that workstation is already paired to your account, use its existing connection.
2
Open the intended document
Keep SOLIDWORKS and the connector running on the paired PC. The SOLIDWORKS bridge is included with the connector; no separate MCP server is required.
3
Verify model access
Check the integration’s connection status, then run the read-only request below. Confirm the document and configuration before requesting an edit.
Check the SOLIDWORKS model
Use the connection
For a dimension change, name the feature or parameter, its new value, and any interfaces that must stay fixed. Ask for a rebuild and readback of the changed geometry. See CAD modeling and drawing creation for complete requests. SOLIDWORKS Simulation uses this same connection. Adam can load the installed add-in when a Simulation task starts, and SOLIDWORKS checks the required license. A working CAD connection alone does not establish Simulation availability. Review native CAE setup and operation scope before starting a study. If it does not connect
- The workstation is online but SOLIDWORKS is offline: open SOLIDWORKS and its document on the paired Windows PC. Check the application status separately from the device status.
- Adam sees a different model: identify the document and configuration in your request, then repeat the read-only check before editing.
- Simulation is unavailable: check the installed add-in and license, then follow native CAE troubleshooting.
- An edit was interrupted: inspect the current document before retrying because the previous operation may have changed it.
