Connect Rhino 8 to inspect the open document, create and edit geometry and layers, build Grasshopper definitions, run RhinoScript, and capture viewports. Adam uses its Rhino plug-in through the Desktop Connector.

Before you begin

Install Rhino 8 on the macOS or Windows computer you will pair with Adam. Open the model you want to work with and confirm its units before requesting geometry changes.

Connect

1

Pair the Rhino computer

In Adam, open Integrations > Rhino and follow Desktop Connector setup. Use the existing pairing if this computer is already connected to your account.
2

Install the bundled Rhino plug-in

Open Adam Connector and use its Rhino setup to install the plug-in. Follow any restart instructions shown by the connector. The Rhino integration in Adam directs you to the connector for this step.
3

Open and verify the model

Keep Rhino and the connector running. Open the intended document, check the Rhino connection status, and use the read-only request below.
Check the Rhino document

Use the connection

Name the objects or layers Adam should work on, the required dimensions, and the geometry to preserve. For Grasshopper work, describe the inputs, intended output, and which parameters should remain editable. Review the resulting geometry in Rhino and request measurements alongside viewport captures. See CAD modeling and mesh to CAD for complete workflows.

If it does not connect

  • Adam says to open the connector: complete the Rhino plug-in setup in Adam Connector.
  • The device is online but Rhino is unavailable: confirm that Rhino 8 and the plug-in are running on the paired computer, and follow any pending restart instruction.
  • The wrong geometry is targeted: identify the document, layers, and objects explicitly, then repeat the inspection.
  • An edit was interrupted: inspect the current geometry before asking Adam to repeat the operation.
